Today, I will share a battle in which the season has reset, yet the intensity of the battles remains consistent. This battle was the highlight of today's battle log and should be in the "Battle of the Day" book, if there is one, because the strategies used by me and my opponent in the Modern League's rules were drastic. The better foreseer won it, of course.

Without further ado, let's begin!

Battle Conditions

The mana cap is 47, and there are 4 summoners to choose from: Fire, Water, Life, and Dragon.

Battle Rules:-

Odd Ones Out: You can only summon units with odd mana costs.
Ferocity: All units deal double damage if the target has taunt ability.

Keeping the mana cap, available summoners, and battle rules in mind, I decided to go for the summoner who would give me a better stance in the battle, regardless of the summoner he chooses, and that is the Life summoner Franz Ruffmane. With its heavy and high-level monsters in its arsenal, I am sure it to make it an amazing battle.

Let's start the deck deconstruction from my side:

Summoner: Franz Ruffmane(Ability: Increase in Shields for all ally monsters by 1. Grants the ability to summon 1 Gradiator monster)(Level 2).

Tank: Mantaroth (Ability: Armoured Strike, Shields).

Magic Attackers: Janni Rebel (Ability: Flank, Inspire),
                 Captain Katie (Ability: Snipe, Bloodlust).

Non-Attacker: Scavo Hireling (Ability: Repair).

Ranged Attacker: Venari Marksrat (Ability: Martyr),
                 War Pegasus (Ability: Flying, Shatter).

My strategy was to attack the opposition, largely from the front, while trying to snipe his units from the middle of the deck. I used a tank with immensely high HP and a repairable shield with which it would strike further, and had 2 ranged attackers with 1 magic attacker to support in the attack on their tank. I used another ranged attacker with bloodlust ability to try and pick off their weakest link, and would increase its stats once it confirms a kill. Lastly, I used a non-attacker that would help me restore shield to any unit on the deck and placed it just ahead of Marksrat, whose sole purpose was to fall and give a stats boost to Katie should everyone in the front fall. This would conserve the overall damage output and give me a second chance to fight for the win. Lastly, I used the Pegasus at the end to dodge incoming attacks from the back. And, it has the highest speed in my deck; therefore, his tank's shield should go down easily after the round starts.

The overall damage per round is 14 with a 1 shield increase. The overall damage may increase by 1 each time Katie gets a kill.

Now for the opposition's deck:

Summoner: Grandmaster Rathe(Ability: Increase in shield by 1 for all ally monsters. Grants the ability of void armour and amplify for all ally monsters.)

Tank: Bera Dalin (Ability: Armoured Strike).

Blocked Melee Attacker: Disintegrator (Ability: Demoralize).

Magic Attackers: Janni Rebel (Ability: Flank, Inspire),
                 Adelade Brightwing (Ability: Flying, Repair).

Non-Attacker: Scavo Hireling (Ability: Repair).

Melee Attacker: Stitch Leech (Ability: Sneak).

His strategy was to divert all the incoming damage toward his tank while he aimed to attack from the front and back. He used the Disintegrator to reduce my overall damage by at least 2 as he sensed I might use 2 melee attackers whose attacks would be further decreased by his tank's shield ability. He used the same non-attacker as me to repair the shield of his tank, since that would be the only unit whose shield would decrease. He used 2 magic attackers that increased his melee attackers' damage by 1 and repaired shields by 1. Lastly, he used a melee attacker to hit me from the back to try and put some pressure from both sides.

His overall damage per round is 16 with 2 shield repairs.

Results

Even though we both used Life summoners and had heavy tanks and similar units across the deck and had similar average monster speed, the key reason why he could not beat my lineup is that he had 2 non-attackers at the start of the round, even though he had higher overall damage than I. Once his tank's shield was dealt with at the start of the 1st round, his damage fell as the armoured strike ability was null. To think that a battle in the Bronze League would be this fun was almost unthinkable.
